Outreach workers and volunteer educators from TLF SHARE Collective’s centers in Lucena, Batangas and Metro Manila will be conducting outreach education and condom distribution to local tourists of White Beach in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro from Thursday to Saturday, 20 to 22 March 2008.
A community-led campaign that started in 2002, the activity aims to primarily promote sexual health and safer sex among gay, bisexual, other men having sex with men and their peers, most of whom come from Metro Manila. White Beach has been known to be a popular vacation destination of the population, most specially during the long Lenten holidays.
The campaign shall set up an information counter to be hosted by Tipzynakuu Bar. Outreach workers and volunteers will walk through the White Beach and visit other bars and events to distribute information materials and Frenzy condoms. EZ lubricating jelly packs will also be sold at special rates.
Invitations are also now being sent to peer groups in social networking sites and online communities for small learning group sessions.
TLF SHARE’s Puerto Galera outreach campaign this year is being organized through a grant from the GFATM – HIV and AIDS project, with special logistical support from DKT Philippines, makers of Frenzy condoms and EZ lubricating jelly.
